Flickr Photo Sharing And Organizing

A post at kartooner.com and then a post at Photomatt.net has convinced me to try this photo sharing and organizing service that is being beta tested right now. At first I was skeptical, because I’ve tried numerous services such as Photobucket and Photoisland, among others, and have been sorely disappointed.

However, I’m glad to report that Flickr has been solid and intuitive to use. The site clearly focuses on usability and a slick set of features to make it stand above the competition. They even include a Window tool to upload pictures without going on the web, or even email in the pictures to put up, for private or public consumption. It should be interesting to see how this service fares against the competition.

Here’s the link to my photo page.

Free iPod Came In

3DGPU Community -> Free iPod came in today is the post at the 3DGPU forums detailing how I got my free 20GB iPod from the Freeipods.com site. Needless to say, I’m very excited. I’ve included pictures in the post, as well.

I’m So Exhausted

My whole body feels like it has been through a grinder, every bone aches, every muscle is sore, I’ve had a headache for the past 3 days, and I’m not getting enough sleep. Cleaning up the mess Hurricane Frances created has become a much more difficult task than I anticipated. Today we removed the soggy, and fungus-ridden ceiling tiles and the insulation material. Dirt and pebbles fell, along with roaches, ants, and a very nasty decayed dead squirrel that looks like it has been up there rotting away for years.

Then we removed the soggy nasty green carpet and the cushionary material underneath, and it stank to high heaven of mildew and mold. When I try to sit down and rest, I’m just reminded of how sore I am, and how rank I smell. So I try to keep moving. Taking showers isn’t enough to get rid of the horrible feelings I’m experiencing the past two weeks. I hope to never go through this again. Ever.

To add insult to injury, FEMA only gave us $7,000 to repair the damage, which is nowhere near enough to get even half of it done. I woke up this morning to my new 27″ Sony WEGA TV not working at all, it has worked less than 24 hours, thus it is DOA. Can life possibly get any worse? I’m afraid to answer that.

Gmail-o-Matic Inviter

A simple website lets you submit invites, and let you request an invite to use Gmail. So if you’re looking to get one for free, head on over to gmail invite spooler. I just gave them 100 invites to hand out, as I’ve already given numerous invites to Gmail4Troops.

Update: The Gmail invite is no longer necessary. You can sign up for Gmail using your mobile phone. Why the mobile phone? To ensure you’re a legitimate person, and to prevent spammers from signing up and abusing their service.

The Night Is Ambient

I’ve discovered a new band, Amethystium, which hails from Norway, that has a musical style similar to Delerium. Ambient, new age, soothing, truly music that is uplifting and not so distracting but complementary to anything you’re doing. There’s a great blog post on this very matter that is worthy of a read to understand how great ambient music is. Sure, there are moments that I get into rock and metal, but when I want to relax, do something while working, or need to feel more positive, ambient is the right tool for the job. The blog post mentions and links to Ambient Nights, possibly the best series to download and enjoy on a CD ever, so check it out if you love ambient (or want to get into it.)

Got 27″ TV From Freeflatscreen.com

3DGPU Community -> Got 27 Inch Tv From Freeflatscreen.com is the forum thread I posted in with proof that I got the 27″ TV I specified to send to me when I got 10 referrals for FreeFlatScreens.com. I’ve posted up pictures too, so you can see this is not a joke, and is the real deal. I spent only $2.50 for the Columbia House DVD Membership, which I cancelled to prevent being billed monthly. $2.50 for a $400 TV is a pretty good deal, if you ask me.

I Survived Hurricane Frances .. Barely

I’ve posted in the 3DGPU forums my experience with Hurricane Frances. Needless to say, it wasn’t a good one. A huge oak tree fell on the house, and I was without power for more than 24 hours. All the details can be found in the above link. Needless to say, I’m glad to be alive, and hope to not go through a hurricane again.
