26 Kids Disqualified Over Bracelet

Wednesday, October 13th, 2004

This is about the most stupid thing I’ve heard in a long while. 26 high school kids, showing support for fighting cancer via Lance Armstrong’s LiveStrong yellow bracelet, were disqualified in their cross-country race. I don’t have to look far to prove just how bad our school system is these days. Saw this via MtDewVirus.

Mom In Hospital

Tuesday, October 12th, 2004

Tomorrow marks a week since my mom has been in the hospital. She submitted herself when she discovered her skin was jaundiced (yellow), as well as the whites of her eyes. It turned out that she has gallstones, and they are blocking a tract where waste leaves the body. They will have to perform surgery on her, and remove her gall bladder, along with the stone. They also intend on doing a biopsy on her liver.

What broke my heart was hearing how they put her on an I.V. diet because she complained her stomach was hurting her. Trying to find tasty food has been futile. She said she broke down crying when she saw the regular menu that she can’t have had pancakes on it with syrup. She has been eating a clear broth that tasted nasty, jello, and occasionally drinking ice tea. While talking to her on the phone, a nurse walked in and my mom heard that they were giving out sweet italian ice, and she really, really wanted some. Just hearing the desperation in her voice made me cry. I can’t bear to hear my mom in pain and misery.

The worst part is that she’s so far away. I wish I could be there to give her support and love, and I have to settle on letting her hear my voice and tell her how much I love her. I’m just not used to having my mom in a hospital, it has been a rare thing in my life. I’m thankful for that much, at least.

First Anniversary - New Redesign

Tuesday, October 12th, 2004

Notice anything different? Yep, a brand new look. I was really not liking the previous design. I tried too hard, and it didn’t come out the way I wanted. I’ve realized that I just don’t have a knack when it comes to graphical layouts. So I decided to stick with what I’m good at; keeping it simple, sleek, and neat. It only took me 4 hours to put together. There’s a few things I still need to go over, but this should be the final look of things from here on out.

Good Blimey! is now 1 years old (it was started on October 5th, 2003.) In a year, I’ve learned a ton, especially when it comes to design, met a lot of great friends online, and discovered that breakdancing midgets is a scary sight, indeed.

For this theme, I decided to give it a lighter, more humorous feel. I’m a person full of silliness and laughs, why not embody that in my own personal blog? The colors are soothing, and there is plenty of whitespace to ensure easy reading.

I hope you like it too. Any feedback is welcome.
