World of Warcraft – Flying Mount

I’ve been sucked back into the world of World of Warcraft, thanks to the Burning Crusades expansion, and managed to get to level 70, and bought the coveted flying mount. This has effectively opened up a whole new world in the game, allowing for greater freedom and less dying, and saved time. I also, as a kid at heart, love doing silly tricks like falling from the greatest height into the water. Witness for yourself this:

Toothache on your Birthday

For my 28th birthday (yesterday) I spent the first hour (12:30 a.m.) in the emergency room. I had excruciating pain in my tooth, which was giving me a monster headache. I hadn’t slept much in the past 3 days, and it was getting unbearable. So a visit to the emergency room on my birthday had me taking painkillers and antibiotics. I have a dentist appointment later today, and I hope to address the toothache and more.

Not all was bad though. I had a great birthday, as I grilled hot dogs and my roommate made an excellent butter pecan birthday cake for me. A neighbor came over and everyone had a good time. A lot of my family called and wished me a happy birthday, and I had nice long talks with my brothers and sister. So beyond the tooth pain, I am grateful that I have a family that loves me and a roommate who is truly an angel.

Oh, being 28 isn’t all it is cracked up to be. Whoever said being 28 is the new 21 is lying and should be kicked in the face.

Good Food Mood

It’s been a while since I’ve posted on here, so I thought I’d give it a shot to break the silence. Today I woke up in a foul mood; I had a toothache, a headache, and I only got about 4 hours of sleep (I’m Evil Matt if I don’t get more than 9 hours of sleep — yes, I said nine.) My roommate, knowing me best, took me out to a new restaurant to cheer me up. Some people ply the moody person with sex (although that cheers me up, but food and sex are synonymous) and some become workaholics, others delve themselves in their hobbies. I’m all about good food, though.

Normally I’m not too fond of Mexican food, instead preferring Chinese most of the time, but that may be due to most of us Americans sticking with the Taco Bell staples, i.e. tacos, fajitas, burritoes, etc. I usually just order a chimichanga. However, since I try to make it a point to try something new every time I go out to eat, I instead ordered the carne de peurco con chile verde (recipe), or basically a pork stew.

It was freaking ridiculously good. I scarfed it down like there isn’t going to be a tomorrow, and I ended up paying for it later (stupid stomach!) The pork was tender, the broth was packed with flavor, and it was the perfect dish for a cold, rainy day. I even picked out a full bay leaf out of the stew; it was pure homemade goodness. One thing is for sure, I’m definitely going to try something new, and who knows, maybe I’ll become a big fan of Mexican food yet.
