This morning my computer’s power supply unit died and apparently it took out the GeForce 970 GPU with it. The PSU isn’t surprising, as it is nearly 8-years old and has been running non-stop 24/7/365 all that time. It took a 2 hour trip to Best Buy to get a replacement PSU. Taking out the GPU was an uncool move, but fortunately it’s still under warranty. That means, for the time being, I’m back to Ye Olde GeForce 660 Ti, until EVGA can replace the GPU.
Not sure what caused the event to happen this morning, since there wasn’t a power outage or anything. Just bad luck. I canceled my gambling trip to Las Vegas, in the mean time.
