When I was a little kid, I won a goldfish as a prize from some game at the fair. I brought it home and found a fishbowl to put it in. Unfortunately, I had to clean the fishbowl every week because it would get dirty and nasty.
Then I had the brilliant idea of getting the chlorine from the pool supplies in the shed and using it in the fishbowl water so I didn’t have to constantly clean the stupid fishbowl. When I put the goldfish in the fishbowl with clean water and chlorine in it, 30 minutes later the goldfish died.
I learned a very valuable lesson that day. That goldfish prefer dirty and nasty fishbowls over nice and clean ones.
