Stopped by Outback for lunch today while in Ocala and ended up getting the sashimi-style seared pepper ahi tuna, which was served on a bed of Asian slaw and came with a ginger-soy dipping sauce. It was really fantastic, and it tastes as good as it looks.

The birthday surprise today was in Green Cove Springs at a place called Pan Asian Cuisine. They serve a variety of Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, and Korean dishes. I had a huge bowl of spicy and really tasty Szechuan Beef Noodle Soup and Ruthanna had Pad Kee Mao, a favorite Thai dish. Next time I plan on getting the pho.

Normally I would’ve gone with the Pad Kee Mao, too, but I’ve been hankering to explore the sichuan cuisine which tends to be both spicy and numbing (sichuan peppercorns, a common ingredient, has a numbing chemical in it.) It worked out because Ruthanna ordered the Pad Kee Mao to take home for me to have for dinner tonight, so happy birthday to me!

P.S. If anyone was wondering how old I am now, according to my birth certificate, I just turned 28 years old. Don’t worry, I lost count, too.

Dug up some ancient technology that I still have in a very dusty box full of deprecated hardware: my first video card from 1998, the Diamond Riva TNT.

That was the year so many legendary games came out: Half-Life, Unreal, Fallout 2, Thief: The Dark Project, Falcon 4.0, Baldur’s Gate, Battlezone.
