Firefox 0.9, which should be coming out soon, will feature a new look to replace the Qute theme used currently. It’s heavily modified from the Pinstripe theme and will be called Winstripe. Now my personal, albeit subjective, opinion after seeing the screenshot is: meh. I mean, it just doesn’t do anything for me. When I first saw the Qute theme in a screenshot, I was excited, and it hasn’t disappointed me. Of course, I’ll reserve final judgement on the new Winstripe theme after using it for a while, but I don’t have very high hopes for it.

Why am I so concerned? Because the theme is a very crucial element to keep people using the browser, and I dearly love Firefox with all my heart. I would hate to see it get tossed aside just because the default theme looks “meh.” In any case, I can’t wait for 0.9 to come out, with numerous bug fixes and improved stability, the best browser is going to get a lot better.
